The following gear reviews are our personal experiences using the products we use outdoors. These reviews are only our opinions and in no way reflect the views, as a whole, of the climbing, medical and outdoor communities. Enjoy!

positives

Lets start off by saying this boot is super light! At 940g per boot they are some of the lightest double boots on the market. Its also nice to wear the inner liner to bed in your sleeping bag. Nothing like waking up in the alpine environment with warm feet. They feel like slippers. Ive had these boots for almost 3 seasons now and they still work amazingly well.

I have a wide foot and a high arch. They fit my foot perfectly. The inner liner only took one trip to break in. The Gortex makes the boot waterproof and having walked across many streams they are truly waterproof.

I've taken these boots on alpine ascents as well as ice climbing and they are great for both. I do not see a need to replace these boots for at least a few more seasons.

negatives

The outer zipped became almost unable to pull without fear of the tearing my shoulder or the red pull tab. This was fixed by using zipper lube.

The cost about $750. That is really reasonable considering what you are getting in return. Arc’teryx in La Brea CA carries a full run of the boots. You can cruise in there are try them on. Tell them you read the review at Ektos! The staff there is awesome. They will make sure you get the gear you came in for!

As far as stiffness these boots over time have gotten weaker in the ankle. This can be problematic when ascending WI 3+.

Overall

Arc'teryx is new to the footwear game but in true Art'teryx fashion they did very well with this boot. I swung for the fences and went with the Crux AR and haven't been disappointed. You can check them out here: Arc'teryx
